Prof. Xu received her Ph.D. in Economics from Peking University. She has been a member of the Economic Policy Committee of State Council since 2002. Her research interests include public finance, public choice and government choice. Prof. Xu was the winner of Excellent Class Supervisor Award of Peking University in 2003 and wan the third prize in the Youth Teaching Competition of Peking University in 2004.
