The Department of International Economics and Trade was established
in 1985 as a successor of the International Economics major started
in 1958. Currently, its undergraduate program offers degrees in the
fields of International Economics and International Trade and the
graduate program offers master and Ph.D. degrees in the field of World
Economy.
The department¡¯s teaching and research focus on the following four
fields: (1) International Economic Relations (which covers topics
like international trade, international investment, multinational
enterprises, WTO and other international economic organizations);
(2) Economic Development and Policies; (3) Chinese Open Economy (which
covers topics like FDI in China, China¡¯s international economic strategies
and China¡¯s trade strategy, etc.);and (4) Theory of World Economy.
The department aims at training professionals with solid knowledge
of international economic theory and practice as well as strong ability
in foreign languages. The graduates are expected to fill positions
that are related to international trade, finance, and business. The
core courses include Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, International
economics, Theory of World Economy, Studies of Major Countries and
Regions (including USA, Japan, EU, Russia and middle Asia, Asian Pacific,
HK, Taiwan, and Macao), Theory and Practice of International Trade,
Ianternational Finance, International Investment, International Clearance,
International Marketing, Management of Multinational Enterprises,
International Commercial/Business Law.The Department of International
