After more than twenty years of reform and opening up to the outside world, China’s insurance industry is playing an increasingly important role in China’s financial system. The opening-up, reforms, and the rapid growth of the economy have created an urgent need for research on insurance and social security theory and policy, as well as for high-quality education. On September 28, 2003, the CCISSR was established to response to this need.

Give what CCISSR has done over the past two years, we can see that the center has been making steady progress in fulfilling its original mission to “ utilize the insurance research and education of the Economics School, Peking University to enhance insurance and social security scholarship, policy, and practice in China through the free and open exchange of ideas among China’s academic community, regulatory officials.
